There are many nutritional products on the market that are made specifically for athletes. Many sports nutritional products use 'science' as a marketing angle to indicate that an athlete will gain an 'edge' by consuming them. This program uses analytical chemistry techniques to verfiy nutrient content and challenge a number of nutritional myths associated with sport and nutrition. Students use their problem solving skills as well as micropipetting and spectroscopy techniques to preapre standards, determine a standard curve and apply results to make consumer recommendations.
