It was an early morning start for the BioLAB crew and Roslyn Primary School students today!

We were very lucky to be invited down to Simonds Stadium to showcase our BioCATS partnership program for Rebecca Maddern, Geelong Cats No.1 ticket holder and guest weather presenter on Channel 7’s Sunrise Program. We had a wonderful time showing Rebecca and her crew the many wonders of science and maths of football. Students had the opportunity to showcase some of the materials technology of football equipment as well as some of the wearable sports technology that the football players wear to assist them to play, train and recover.

BioCATS is fast growing a reputation of being one of the most innovative and creative community programs in the AFL, it has also grabbed a lot of attention in the education sector as a program which is able to build on students natural enthusiasm for science and maths in the world around them. So the opportunity to invite a national audience into the BioCATS experience was one we couldn’t refuse! The morning finished with a surprise opportunity to see the inner sanctum of the Geelong Football club and players training hard with their morning fitness routines. Thanks to all Roslyn students, teacher Bec Atkinson and Principal Mary Hutchinson for being such a fantastic group of tv stars and thankyou to Channel 7’s Sunrise!

BioCATs is a partnership program between BioLAB and the Geelong Cats. It is proudly supported by Deakin University and Target.
