Anna Administration and Finance Officer Speciality Bookings and office organisation Fun Facts Anna is an aspiring wine maker!

Anna is our Administration, Finance, and all round front office guru. Anna has over 30 years administration experience in a wide range of settings and can assist with all enquiries to make your visit to BioLAB an enjoyable experience.

Anna enjoys keeping fit, catching up with family and friends and relaxing with a glass of red whilst taking in the bay views at Portarlington

Anna will be your first point of contact and will inform you about what the Biolab and it’s staff can offer students, teachers and the wider community. Anna will ensure that every aspect of your visit runs smoothly. She has been a ‘test lab rat’ and has experienced first-hand many of the programs that we have to offer, so she can make sure you choose the right program for your students.

Anna’s warm, friendly personality, combined with her welcoming smile and bubbly personality have been a valuable addition to the Biolab.

Sam Education Officer Speciality Inclusive Science Education, Exercise Science Fun Facts Always up for a competition!

Sam sees his position at the BioLAB as a wonderful opportunity to further explore his passion for all sports, and enable him to share the vital links between sport, science and maths in human performance and sport development. Amongst a wide assortment of programs at BioLAB, Sam works closely with the Geelong Football Club in our exciting partnership program, BioCATS and coordinates our science programs for students with disabilities.

As a passionate local footballer and surfer Sam impart’s his vast knowledge of sport and human performance in a fun, friendly and engaging manner, creating an exciting atmosphere which motivates students to continue their studies in maths and science through exercise and sports science.

Yvonne Director of BioLAB Speciality Science Communication, Program Development Fun Facts Loves a surf before work with the BioLAB team

Yvonne comes from a diverse science, education and management background. She has developed her career working around Australia and specialises in the development of education and engagement programs across many areas of science. She has worked and collaborated with many of Australia’s leading scientific and educational organisations industries, state and federal government.

Throughout her career Yvonne has built a solid foundation of success in education management and program development for schools, universities, private industry and the community. Many of her experiences focus on interpreting policies and developing programs/strategies to engage communities in the wonders of science – showcasing career pathways, cutting edge research and technologies in science. She has taken her work and projects internationally and has presented at many conferences in educational program development and science communication. Yvonne was also nominated as a finalist in the Premiers Science Awards for her work in science communication.

Yvonne’s current position as Director of BioLAB has seen her using her unique blend of skills and experiences to develop the science and mathematics specialist centre from concept stage, through the physical construction of the 4.5 million dollar facility and in ongoing management, developing BioLAB into a showcase statewide educational resource.

Yvonne is often found developing partnerships, programs and also presenting to school groups with the team, sharing a laugh and her love for weird and wonderful facts and scientific mysteries!

Matt Education Officer Speciality Primary Science, Medical Science Fun Facts Matt has so many fun facts its hard to decide

Matt comes to us from Earth Ed (Mount Clear College) and has a wealth of experience designing and developing science education programs and outreach resources specifically for primary school audiences.

During his three years at Earth Ed Matt’s work included – designing, developing and running the famous solar powered Earth Ed Renewable Resources Trailer and running their regional outreach programs which included working with many primary schools, staff and students to enhance and develop their science curriculum. Matt has successfully sourced partnerships with industry and government programs to build, fund and deliver the education programs for many of the Earth Ed experiences. Other random facts about Matt to chat to him about…..he is a very talented singer/songwriter and is also a registered nurse!

Benge Education Officer Speciality Biological Science, General Science Fun Facts Bodyboarding champion!

Benge comes to us with a wealth of experience in VCE Biology, general science and industry applications. He has also has completed postgraduate research in marine biology!

Benge will be involved in all programs at BioLAB but will specialise in the senior secondary programs and teacher professional development. He will also be designing and delivering study sessions and a Deakin partnership program that aim to reinforce and revise key concepts in VCE Biology, Chemistry and career pathways.

Amelia Laboratory Manager Speciality Chemistry and everything else science!! Fun Facts Amelia loves karate and has her blackbelt!

Amelia is our Laboratory Manager and brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the team! Amelia specializes in chemistry and has completed postgraduate studies in Forensic science. Amelia is responsible for all of the laboratory preparation and program development that goes on behind the scenes of our programs. She is also found mentoring in our laboratory programs and loves to work with students and share her passion for science.

Christine IT Technician/ Administration Speciality All the Technical things! Fun Facts Plays a mean game of UNO

Christine is the IT technician/Administration Officer at BioLAB. She comes to us with a wealth of experience integrating IT in educational settings. You will see her smiling face at the Administration desk and helps us ensure that your BioLAB experience is full of the latest in ipad technology, dataloggers, physiological sensors and heaps of other cool stuff!

Olivia Education Officer Speciality Mathematics/Science Fun Facts Specialised in psychophysiology at uni!

Liv has joined the BioLAB team this year as our Education Officer and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching mathematics, psychology and biological science in new and interesting ways.  Liv will be involved in delivering all of our educational programs but will specialize in our 7-VCE programs and also be working on integrating more mathematical content into our pre and post program resources.

Ryan Education Officer Speciality VCE Physical Education and Elite Sport settings Fun Facts Ryan has a substantial shoe collection and loves to wear a new pair each day!

Ryan is one of our talented Education Officers and specialises in Physical Education and elite sport settings. Ryan is an experienced teacher and athlete and comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and skill across the STEM curriculum and sports technology.

Lodgey Mentor Extraordinaire! Speciality Biological Science, General Science Fun Facts Gymnastics state champion!

Lodgey specialises in VCE Biology and completed a double major at Monash University in Genetics and Microbiology. With over a decade of experience teaching secondary school maths and science, she brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to her mentoring role at BioLAB.
Lodgey has a passion for all areas of science and loves to share her knowledge with students in engaging and exciting ways. She is actively involved in the planning and delivery of STEM programs as well as working collaboratively with the Geelong Football Club in the BioCATS program.

Tommy Mentor Extraordinaire! Speciality Exercise Physiology and Nutrition Fun Facts Tommy hosts two health science podcasts!

Tommy has a background in Exercise Science with a proud passion for all things health, performance, and longevity. On a constant quest for further knowledge, you’ll find him reading books or research articles to keep us all on our toes with up-to-date scientific wisdom. In addition to mentoring in many of our onsite programs Tommy is also one of our partnership program mentors specialising in BioCATS and the Winning Edge programs.

Greg Mentor Extraordinaire! Speciality Molecular Biology Fun Facts Greg is a Master Quizmaster and puts together all of our VCE Biology Quiz resources

Greg has a passion for Molecular Biology and all things science! You will find Greg in our science laboratory not only mentoring but also assisting with Lab prep and all the fun stuff that happens behind the scenes! Greg is currently completing his masters in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Deakin University.

Claire Special Programs Officer Speciality Science and Maths enrichment programs Fun Facts Claire is also a occupational therapist

Claire has joined us as the Special Programs Coordinator and will be coordinating and delivering our Victorian Challenge and Enrichment programs to schools throughout the region. Claire is an experienced science and maths teacher and brings many additional skills such as VCE Biology, numeracy improvement and HHD experience to our team.
