SportSTEM

SportSTEM is our new and exciting student experience at Kardinia Park and is brought to you in partnership with Deakin University.

An exclusive behind the scenes athlete experience, to testing their skills as a sports commentator this full day excursion is a wonderful way for students to apply their STEM skills in exciting and innovative ways.

This new STEM experience takes students into the inner sanctum of the largest regional stadium in Australia – the home of the mighty Cats, host to Australian teams such the Matildas; Big Bash Cricket and Supercross. Students get a VIP pass behind the scenes getting to explore areas which are usually only accessible to athletes on game day. They also get exclusive access to the Geelong Sports Museum and gain insight to all the incredible sports history and events in the Geelong region.

The SportSTEM experience focuses on all sports (in particular soccer, AFL football, cricket, cycling and rowing), students get physically active as well as working together to solve STEM challenges and apply their mathematics skills. We also explore the importance of community sport and cover curriculum areas across STEM (in particular real life maths skills) and career pathways in science, maths and sport.

This program only runs on a Monday and is a full day excursion from 10am – 2.00pm

The program is designed and delivered by BioLAB in partnership with Deakin University.
