VCES Data Analysis in Sport (Years 7-8)

This event is part of the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series, providing free extension opportunities for high-ability students in Victorian Government Schools. Funded by the Department of Education’s Student Excellence Program.

VCES Data Analysis in Sport is a free incursion/onsite program designed for extension and enrichment of high ability students.

This program provides specialist educational experiences themed around sport and human performance. It includes a 1.5 hour incursion to your school/or visit to our centre and is complimented by online resources. (Please note: we have limited availability for incursions)

Wearable Technology is now used in almost every sport to train, analyse and monitor the general health and performance of athletes. The information that this technology is now able to give us has meant that career pathways associated with the technology development and analysis of the data have rapidly grown. Data Analysts, Sports Scientists and Engineers are now front row at every major sporting event and are employed by most elite sporting organisations around the world.
This program explores the use of wearable technology in sport and gives students first-hand experience to use this technology and analyse their own primary data. They will use mathematical skills to analyse primary data sets and create graphical representations of data trends.
