Wearable Technology

Primary ProgramsOutreach

Wearable technology has made monitoring our health and wellbeing a part of daily life. But what does all this data mean?

We have class sets of wearable technology devices which allow you to complete a number of mathematical, and scientific investigations with students. This program is a wonderful way to introduce your students to data analysis, research methodologies, findings and conclusions.

BioLAB will visit your classroom to run students through a number of physical tasks that will allow students to use their mathematical skills to compare and analyse their individual data sets against class data sets.

We provide reports and resources to help you analyse students’ heart rate and steps/distance data.

Students will:

  • Complete various intensity activities while wearing technology for the school day.
  • Use their maths skills to interpret their wearable technology report and relate the data to physical activity recommendations.

Learning Intention:

To record and interpret personal wearable technology data in the context of recommended physical activity guidelines.

Success Criteria:

  • Find information on a wearable technology data report.
  • Relate personal data to physical activity recommendations.
