What Makes Me Tick

Primary ProgramsOnsite

Get your lab coat and safety goggles on, this program introduces students to basic lab skills and cutting edge research equipment.

We take students on an adventure into the human body looking at a number of important components such as cells, DNA, the skeletal, muscular and nervous systems.
Students work in small groups with mentors to perform chemistry experiments, problem solve and utilise scientific technology such as microscopes, micropipettes and 3D models.

Students will:
• Collect reaction time data and examine the interactions of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
• Extract DNA from a cell following a scientific method.

Learning Intention

To understand how your human body functions at the cellular and system level.

Success Criteria:
 Describe how body systems work together to perform an activity.
 Identify correct location of bones in the human body.
 Explain the stimulus response process.
 Link physical traits to parents, genes and DNA.
 Explain the process used to extract DNA.
